Kwame Nkrumah: The City of Tema (Part 2)

Landmarks in concrete.

The Cocoa Silos

The Kwame Nkrumah Motorway

One of these monolithic structures were never used. The other is the backbone of the Greater Accra economy.

I amuse myself with thinking about if the two had been used - and developed - since the 1960s.

What do you think, does it matter?

I think Nkrumah had great ideas. It is a pity for subsequent governments to have ignored all the projects he started. If both have been used in unison the would have been a better place plus if we have later decided to process our own beans as was his aim. It is interesting...I love the man...he is a pragmatist and that's what we don't want. We want those who would lie and lie about something that is to be done and never gets done

Nkrumah has really done a lot for Ghana. I've been thinking about what he would do if he were still alive, and I have summarised my thoughts here: http://gamelmag.blogspot.com/2009/09/what-would-be-nkrumahs-aspiration-for.html
