Rain in Africa is now Urban Africa

Today, after more than two years with rich rain falling on this site, I decided to change the name of the blog.

Urban Africa is a more forthright name since anyone immediately can understand what it is about. It is snappier. Also Urban Africa has the advantage of being just two words that do not easily blend and they are easy to spell!

Next step will be moving to wordpress.com, but since they do not allow my tags to move along, I think I need to prepare carefully before I go.

What do you think of the new name?

I am liking the idea of a CHANGE of name. Nice blog photo you've got there. By the way, why you moving to wordpress? Is it worth the move? Just curious and wanna know more.. !!

Hmm, have always liked the name 'Rain in Africa'. Have always thought that it was representative of the idea that despite the challenges, as is usual with some rain, things will always grow, be cleansed etc. And of course whenever I hear the song I think of your blog :-). That said, am looking forward to seeing what Urban Africa has to say - after all it's still you, isn't it, so we are sure to enjoy.

Hi Mac-Jordan and Denise,

Thanks for noticing the name change. I thought it was time for something new. Although, it did pain me just a bit since, as Denise rightly points out, the poetry of Rain in... is then lost. Also UA doesnt have a song. Yet :-)

I opened an account on wordpress and was swept away by the interface. Also it is well known blogger is for beginners and wordpress for serious bloggers, hehe. And all posts including comments can be transferred with just a click. However tags cannot and I love my tags...

Thanks again for your comments.

The name is good and reflects what you think or want to portray with the blog. Once in a while we have to change, don't we?

I like. I really like. I think urban africa is more focussed. A reader knows what to expect.I think it's also useful -i'm very biased towards blogs that serve as a resource for a particular kind of information...eg. good news from ghana, makola law, ghana hall of shame etc. I visited the urban africa blog and like what u're doing with it so far.Cool new blog definitely! Will be back!

Hi Kajsa! I have really loved "Rain in Africa", not only because it is a poetic name, but also for the content of the texts and pictures. And I say this not only because I love my daughter in Africa.

I liked "Rain in Africa"...I think "Urban Africa" blends in the background, so to speak, not memorable enough.
